A View from The Shard of London’s Old Theatre District

My name’s Matt, I work here as a Guest Ambassador
and this is my favourite view of London. This view of the London Bridge area, and the fact
that the Roman’s set up in here first off. They set up the first London Bridge, just
by the side of the current London Bridge – it was wooden structure at the Time. This is
obviously a very old part of London, it’s the oldest, an in Elizabethan time, Shakespeare’s
time, this was theatre land. There was a huge amount of activity here. We have the current day Globe Theatre just
by the river there, but actually in the original era it was just a few streets down, under
now what is a series of apartments. Marlowe’s Rose Theatre is now under what I think is
the Financial Times building. And just round the corner is where John Harvard used to live,
who went on to America and set-up Harvard University. It’s packed with layers of history, and that’s
why I find it fascinating.
