Black Men Walking – audience comments from the Royal Court Theatre

I felt connected with it – cultural references, the historic references – I felt like I know the journey It ties into things I feel about belonging here being mixed race in this country It was an incredible performance very intense At the end of it I felt really celebratory
of what the show was saying which is about that we do have a right to be in this country
and people have been here over history and I felt celebratory of that fact
it’s definitely an emotional piece Quite humbled some ways and quite overwhelmed in others – and enlightened It’s lovely to discover that Black people have been involved in the landscape of Yorkshire for centuries There’s a lot of honesty and challenges within the play Thoughtful, contemporary and necessary I would certainly recommend it It was brilliant really visually engaging I thought the design was amazing and well worth a watch
