Cruisin’ Connecticut – Haunted, Abandoned “Majestic Theater” in Bridgeport

“CRUISIN’ CONNECTICUT”… WHAT WAS ONCE A BOOMING THEATRE IN DOWNTOWN BRIDGEPORT IN THE ROARING 20’S — NOW STANDS AS AN ABANDONED BUILDING. THE “MAJESTIC THEATRE” IS NOW DESOLATE — ONLY FILLED WITH MEMORIES OF PAST PERFORMANCES AND SUPPOSED SUPERNATURAL SIGHTINGS. NEWS 8’S RYAN KRISTAFER GOT AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THE THEATRE. GOOD MORNING. IT OPENED IN 1922 AND HAS BEEN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC SINCE 1971… AND WE’RE TAKING YOU ON A JOURNEY THROUGH ONE OF CONNECTICUT’S MOST INCREDIBLE FORGOTTEN, HAUNTED GEMS. 3 IT HAS A VERY COLD EERIE FEELING.VERY COLD– YOU FEEL IT?YEAH.YOU FEEL IT RIGHT? RIGHT UP YOUR SPINE.THIS PLACE IS EERILY INCREDIBLE.THE THEATER HOLDS THREE THOUSAND PEOPLE.BACK IN THE DAY, THIS WAS THE PLACE FOR ENTERTAINMENT.SO THE STAGE WAS USED FOR NOT ONLY AS A MOVIE THEATER, BUT IT WAS ALSO USED FOR PLAYS.BEFORE A PLAY WENT TO NEW YORK, IT WOULD COME TO BRIDGEPORT. YOU KNOW YOU GOT BALCONY SEATS YOU GOT A PIPE ORGAN..HAVE YOU EVER COME IN ON YOUR FREE TIME AND TRIED TO PLAY THE PIPE ORGAN? YOU KNOW LAY DOWN A FEW TUNES?NO, NO NO NO NO. I’LL TAKE YOU TO YOUR SEAT. OH YOU’RE AN USHER NOW! I’M AN USHER! I WEAR MULTIPLE HATS.THERE’S THREE PROJECTORS. IT WAS FILM.. THOSE PROJECTORS WERE OPERATED WERE PROPANE GAS. TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING BLOWING UP AN EXPLOSION — AND HAVING 3 THOUSAND PEOPLE HEAR IT, BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.AND IT IS HALLOWEEN JUST AROUND THE CORMER– WHAT ARE SOME SPOOKY THINGS HERE?I BEEN HERE AND I HAVE HEARD PEOPLE WALKING BEHIND ME AT TIMES. (CREEPY LAUGH)MIGHT SAY THAT THE REASON THIS BUILDING IS STILL STANDING IS BECAUSE THE ANCESTORS OR THE OWNERS OF THIS BUILIDING ARE PROBABLY PROTECTING THIS BUILDING. WE HAVEN’T BUMPED INTO ANYONE YET, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!BEFORE WE LEAVE WE MIGHT!LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY.LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY! ((ADLIB ABOUT RYAN’S STORY))
