Drama BA(Hons) at Kingston University: Devising in context

Hi I’m Jim, I’m one of the module tutors for
Devising in Context. This work is taken from two starting points
which students encountered on the module. One is the short story William Wilton by Edgar
Allen Poe, it’s a very gothic, edgy and dark story. And the other is the Hunterian Museum in London which is a surgical museum and gave the students
the contrast of a factual stimulus. So this work shows you two quite different
directions. Devising is a strand in the whole degree programme
at Kingston, students study it the first year and second year and then if they choose to
they can take a yearlong production project where they specialise in creating a piece
of devised theatre.
