I’m Helen, it’s November, and it’s time
for your UK Theatre bite size briefing. the Theatre Casting Toolkit was launched
at the end of October. It’s an online hub of practical tools and resources that
are intended to help make the UK stages more reflective of a modern society. For use by anyone involved in any stage of the casting process, it was
commissioned by UK Theatre and SOLT, and developed by Tonic Theatre. Go to theatrecastingtoolkit.org to check it out for yourself.
The Theatre and Touring Symposium 2020 is now open for booking. It’s going to
take place on Monday the 15th of June 2020.
Early bird booking closes on the 14th of February and early bird rates are
exclusively for SOLT and UK Theatre members so visit our website now to book your place. As we anticipate the possibility of a general election, UK Theatre and SOLT have formulated our Theatre Manifesto: the case for a
thriving theatre industry in the UK. We focused on three key areas: supporting
new financial models and a bedrock of public funding; opportunities for
everyone to work in the theatre sector; and international opportunities and
strong connections. To read it in full visit bit.ly/TheatreManifesto and download a copy for yourself. And finally the UK Theatre Awards 2019 took place on the afternoon of Sunday
the 27th of October. Congratulations to all the amazing nominees and a huge
well done to the winners. Thanks to all our members who applied used our
productions calendar and took part by recommending shows. That’s it for this month!
