‘Parasite’ earns three Golden Globe nominations

the South Korean black comedy parasite
has been nominated in three categories for the upcoming 2020 Golden Globes and
our Eason des has more on the nominations as Oscar buzz continues to
build by the day with the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards being held in
Beverly Hills on January 5th next year the South Korean film parasite has been
nominated for three awards Best Foreign Language Film Best Director and Best
Screenplay it’s the first time ever that a South Korean film has been included in
the final list of the Golden Globes as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press
Association in the Best Foreign Language Film category parasite will be competing
against films including The Farewell by Lulu Wong and pain and glory by Pedro
almodóvar parasite director bong joon-ho will compete for the Best Director award
against Todd Phillips of Joker Martin Scorsese of the Irishman Quentin
Tarantino of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Sam Mendes who directed
1917 in the Best Screenplay category parasite goes up against Marist story
written and directed by Noah Baumbach the two Pope’s written by Anthony
McCartan the Irishman and Once Upon a Time in
Hollywood parasite witches pongs a seventh feature film has already won
this year’s Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and since its US release
in October parasite has grossed nearly 20 million u.s. dollars in box office
sales making it the most commercially successful South Korean film in the u.s.
parasite has also received a number of recognitions at US film festivals and
awards including the best film prize given by the LA Film Critics Association
parasite has also been selected as South Korea’s entry to the category of the
Best Foreign Language Film at the upcoming Academy Awards in February and
critics say it may also be nominated for Best Picture and Best Director season J
