A few years ago he focused on a lot of YouTube drama, but he tries to avoid that nowadays. Reply Isabel Glazenborg January 15, 2020 I really liked the video, I agree with you on everything. Also I like your earrings, where did you get them? Reply Lisa D. January 15, 2020 It might be an age thing (I’m 35), but I never fully followed the back and forth of tea videos. Reply Sinchana Sridhara January 15, 2020 i think we believe people who "expose" other people or we dont think twice about whether the receipts are real or not because we all kinda know that every rich famous person out there has something hidden. good or bad. and due to the way things have been for a long time we tend to believe that people are secretly bad. and even when we think we trust them, because we dont know them personally, we really don't Reply Nana Guelle January 15, 2020 Congraaat for the 500k 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Reply vagd g January 15, 2020 almost 500k subscribers, Tiffany!! From an evolutionary point of view, people that we hear stories from first belong to our close group, that means that they are most likely our relatives, that means that we care about their survival the most, that means we feel need to protect them against o t h e r s. So this is the first reaction, next perchance comes a good sense Reply Susie Q January 15, 2020 How can you sit there with a straight face talking about how journalism is ethical when you live in the country that has FOX News??? Reply Alanna Cahill January 15, 2020 I feel like YouTube (mainly the beauty community & tea/drama channels) is becoming like a Circus, where we come to watch who or whats been said as the next main attraction. I started watching drama channels after the Jaclyn Cosmetics hairy lipstick debacle, because they provided important information. Now I'm getting so tired of hearing who said this, who did that. I'm really over all the petty drama. I've unsubscribed to most drama/tea channels. Its becoming unhealthy for all of us as a whole! Xx Reply Universal Hobo January 15, 2020 YESSS GIRL!!! Reply seachantie January 15, 2020 I feel like once you’re rich and successful “canceling” doesn’t really do anything. I don’t know , I just see it a lot , like people get “canceled” but after a while people don’t care anymore or they’re so likeable/successful that nothing really happens. To me it’s very weird to act like cancel culture is an epidemic when really it isn’t. Like the only time it really works is if you’re like REALLY SMALL or highly considered mediocre , other than that … 🤷🏾♀️ Reply lil suzn January 15, 2020 VIDEO: interesting staffME: Wow this eyeshadow makes her look so wonderful Reply Haylie Chen January 15, 2020 it's interesting that you pointed out the five main ethics of journalism but it's ironic that some so-called journalists working under "respected" and well-established companies such as billboard, the hollywood reporter and even major news channels lacks some basic integrity especially if the topics that they are covering falls under the non mainstream cis white umbrella… just an observation from a music fan Reply nokia January 15, 2020 Hi Tiffany! Can you analyze about this Doomer, Boomer, Chad, etc culture from the internet and get depth into it? I feel like there's classification about people but it's only applied on the internet, cause in real life we can't really put people into categories. For one of the biggest newspapers in The Netherlands (for over 20 years). And she gets really frustrated about how many people assume they can do the same as her just because they have the ability to write. Covering the news or an item takes time and a certain set of skills. Moreover, it's a huge responsibility that people have given their life for (just take a look back at history, WWII fe). It's not because we like them. They are literally giving their reaction to the content. Their reaction happens to be laughing and cracking jokes – as is majority of ours. I don't think it's bullying at all. If you make cringey shit people are gonna make fun of it. That's what i feel. Great video btw. Reply Riptide & Tea January 15, 2020 Part of me is really irritated when stuff is called "drama" because it really trivializes some of these situations where someone is clearly displaying manipulative, predatory, abusive or generally harmful behaviors. I just find it funny that online in all situations it is drama but if you told someone this in real life it would be serious and concerning. The thing is the distinction needs to be made between someone got upset over gummies or whatever and someone manipulated, took advantage of and weaponized someone's past trauma against them to make them do what they wanted knowing that they were psychologically reopening old wounds and making someone feel unsafe with them and in their home. It wasn't like Stephanie and Nik had other issues they were beefing over and then Stephanie dropped something out of nowhere just to make him look bad so that she could win some other kind of argument- this was and always has been the issue. I don't like this example as drama because Nik has a pattern of being emotionally/mentally abusive and that isn't just "regular internet drama. As someone with PTSD I can tell you this- people with trauma or more likely to be targets for manipulation by abusive people because they can use it against them to make them do what they want and make themselves seem like the victim. It really really pisses me off that people are acting like it is just more drama. I could go through and clearly list all his red flag behaviors and how they are signs of abusive people and how you can tell by Stephanie's past (she's talked about some in these and other videos) and her behaviors during and after this that she clearly has trauma some of which she clearly expressed to Nik. Reply Killy19 Killy January 15, 2020 "Spilling the tea" , a common known talk started used by most African American female when talking about drama, just like getting the " bag" meaning getting money. Me, driving 2 hours to get the school: …lol ikr….who would watch that…haha Reply Dana Hernandez January 15, 2020 I am not interested in youtube drama, I think is unnecessary and just helps people get views, and money. You could easily start a fake drama with your friends on youtube and if it works, views = money. bts you are doing me very well, I love intellect. Also what's the point about posting your private life on youtube, if you just want to ruin someone's career do it without everyone else knowing period Reply Emily H January 15, 2020 Some unsolicited advice from a classical singer on how to keep your voice healthy! Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my tutors and various professionals have told me that if you're speaking and singing in a healthy manner, your throat should never hurt, even after doing it for hours. What I've learned from them: 1. Stay hydrated. If you feel thirsty, your body has already been dehydrated for a long time. Don't let yourself get thirsty. 2. Don't scream, whisper, etc. Dynamic extremes can damage your voice. 3. Open your throat. This is the one I have the most trouble with, to the point that I have a dedicated 20-minute warmup specifically for throat-opening when I sing. I speak very forward in my mouth, which creates lots of tension in my throat. A simple exercise to encourage your throat to open is to start each day by speaking like Julia Child for 5-10 minutes. Julia Child's voice is the absolute extreme example of open-throated, back-of-the-throat speaking, as opposed to close-throated, forward-in-the-mouth. Don't speak a specific verse or anything, because if you, say, were to recite the Emancipation Proclamation every morning, you would only associate this open-throatedness with the Empancipation Proclamation. Eventually, your muscles will be taught to relax a little, and when you revert back to your normal speaking voice, you'll have less tension. I love your content. Take care of yourself! Haha, we’re definitely biased about Cody Ko. He’s just so funny and practical.I think a lot of people are canceled for no good reason and they don’t have an opportunity for growth. On the other hand, ppl like Harvey Weinstein (idk how to spell his name and don’t care) need to be shamed, canceled, and put in jail so they can’t harm others. (Although, the prison system is a hot mess with a lot of ppl in there that do not deserve to be.)Then there’s situations like Lizzo and the post-mates girl. I have to admit, it made me feel a little less obsessed with Lizzo after that. Then I caught myself..she’s human. We’re going to fuck up in life and it’s those fuck ups that teach us humanity, how to apologize, and how to grow to be a better version of ourselves.Thank you again for another video. I watched the thrifting video and I can’t remember if you talked about this but what are your thoughts on the prices going up in stores as thrifting becomes more popular? I worry that people that really do need those super low prices are going to not have access to them anymore. I’ve been thrifting my whole life through the times where I was broke af and didn’t really have a home, was staying at peoples houses, living off quarters and change to now where I have a stable income for the first time ever. I worry for the people who were in my position or worse. I worry now, I’m part of the problem. Can you make a second video about how we can help in this issue? Maybe talking to a thrift store owner or two about pricing and the lack of plus size clothing (yes there are online stores but what about ppl living in poverty that need plus sized items without online access)? You da best, Tiff❤️😊 Reply abigail flores January 15, 2020 I don't know if using Stephanie's situation was a good example, because you're talking about people overreacting, doing bad things with cancel culture, and it makes it seems like Stephanie was in the wrong and her situation wasn't serious (sorry for bad english) Reply The Official Chazz Swampman January 15, 2020 I would argue were in a mostly post ethics era for journalism were journalist prior to 2015 became political grifters because partisans on both sides eat that stuff up it's extremely profitable and drama channels became ethical because they would be financially or reputational harmed they don't have a salary they work on donations through patron Reply Lady Jane January 15, 2020 I love your look today. 100% confidence, 101% burrito blanket. Against all reason I actually run out of things to watch on youtube and I end up in a drama hole because apparently is rather watch a video I don't like than no video. The strange thing is that I didn't watch normal TV at all for over a decade. Not sure how this has happened. There is still a lot of channels I really enjoy though. Perhaps I will find you on Instagram or something and we can exchange channel reccomendations to lessen the burden our YouTube addiction puts on us Reply Fernanda Miki January 15, 2020 Ceo of critical thinking Reply Leo Méndez México January 15, 2020 Burrito blanket FTW!!! I’ll be dammed if grown adults are being this easily manipulated on the internet. There’s three sides to every story; your truth, their truth and THE TRUTH! I always wait to listen to both sides before making a stance on anything unless it has to do with racism there’s really no excuse for that. Reply B. Haughton January 15, 2020 Spill isn't simply a drama channel btw nor is it a commentary channel in my opinion. It uses drama to inform of other issues. As a non binary person I highly suggest you do more research on her and why people are ACTUALLY upset with Natalie. She’s always been incredibly shitty and dismissive towards non binary peeps and is now using buzz around “cancel culture” to deflect from the very real valid criticism being aimed at her by other LGBTQ creators. I’m not interested in listening her to complain about being called out for being a truscum when she won’t even acknowledge the reality of other trans and non binary people’s lives. Reply Rebecca's Trash Hole January 15, 2020 5:23 cough cough contrapoints cough cough Reply xConsultingTrickster January 15, 2020 ContraPoints is only jumping on the “cancel culture is going too far!” bandwagon now because she doesn’t like that other LGBT creators are calling her out for her truscummy ways. Remember when she had that patreon stream where she accused hbomberguy of being a “virtue signaler” because he held a steam to raise money for a trans charity? What the fuck was that? throwing a tantrum that other people in the community are doing more actual work for her. Reply Munira Mohamef January 15, 2020 Congrats on 500k!! Thanks for mentioning it! Reply Planet Motherfucker January 15, 2020 I think people just like to be outraged, and also they are entitled. When someone isn’t exactly the image they thought they were or they learn something they don’t agree with, automatically they must be cast out. There are thousands of other “fans” of these people to account for. Just because you don’t like something about someone doesn’t mean they need to be “cancelled” or even called out (depending on what it was or when it was). We are not owed anything by these people, sorry? They are their own people. Mob mentality is a huge factor too. The internet is very good at mob mentality. Reply Taylor Jones January 15, 2020 Do you have a video discussing Onion Boy (lol)? I refuse to watch his videos, and I just want a concise video summary of the events. Reply sas squash January 15, 2020 I would love a shirt that says "we love critical thinking babyyy" lol Reply Sour Eggz January 15, 2020 I always resented a world that platformed someone like Onion Boi 🧅 ever since he was super popular and when he originally posted Shiloh’s breakdown to exploit her. I would sometimes see news of him grooming another girl but now Chris Hansen?! He is getting involved?! I try to ignore Onions existence but now I am going to see this monster have spotlights on his extremely abusive behaviour and content by a larger audience e outside of those who use YouTube as a bigger source of entertainment. Also, these drama channels are not journalism and often very juvenile. She accuses Anthony of being a nazi stalker, hiding behind a screen when they are an actual trans person who is sincerely concerned with contrapoints' promoting a gatekeeping transmedicalist. As a non binary person I find it very hard to watch her videos, as she is supposed to be an educator but gives my already vulnerable community a bad name. In response to your dilemma about sacrificing content for people's feelings, I would also argue that you are not responsible for the feelings of other people. Bullying is certainly a traumatic experience that we always want to try to avoid, but I think the line between "bullying" and "healthy criticism" is marked by respect. If people "are sad" as a result of your critical but respectful content, I wouldn't take on that emotional burden as your responsibility. People need to own their own shit. I actually made a video on why I canceled on my Netflix and why I dont watch TV anymore Reply Sarah Gruhl January 15, 2020 The instincts of trusting those narratives is definitely easier to explain with psychology but could also be described from a sociological perspective. In psychology referring to YouTube as a platform it mostly has to do with group psychology and the difference between an individual that has the wish to be socially accepted/approved and on the contrary the individual that’s more the independent kind. I understand it like a spectrum on which everyone can be placed. This spectrum works for the people who produce those videos as well as the people who watch them and have the urge to be a part of it. From a sociological perspective tea-spilling is something connected to power, to gain power, to execute power etc. it is connected to the concept of authority and the different kinds of power like charismatic, traditional and and another one I can’t remember at the moment (theory by max Weber). Just a real short and simplified perspective from a sociology/psychology student 🤗 Reply Add a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
