Stars Ask the Stars at the Opening Night of SpongeBob SquarePants

Hi, my name is Ethan Slater
and we’re at the opening of SpongeBob SquarePants on Broadway I want to ask Ethan
that play’s SpongeBob OK, you can do it vocally
I can do it vocally But how do you do it physically? I trained a lot. I work with a contortionist. I took a lot of dance classes
but I’ve always been able to make weird faces
so that stuff came in handy I’m imagining that the wardrobe changes
are a little complicated so that’d probably be my question:
How’d that go for you? Liev wants to ask me a question
I’m sorry, hold on I’m one of the characters who
never changes his costume but the ensemble changes their
costume like every other scene The wardrobe department has their own
choreography backstage that’s even crazier than what’s happening onstage
It’s madness backstage, it’s insane What is the recipe for Krabby Patties? Yeah! What is the recipe for Krabby Patties? I am never giving up the secret formula Oh the recipe for Krabby Patties is
[muffled] That’s what the recipe is Hey guys, I want to know
how much has evolved How different, in a percentage
from 1 to 100, how different is the show we’re seeing tonight
from where it started Oh man, I was there at
the very first workshop It was just a movement workshop
to just try to see if we could bring cartoon characters to human form.
So I would say probably a hundred percent I mean because everything got added
from that point My question for the cast is: What is the first beverage you
are going to drink after you finish the show? I am drinking seltzer with lime Hey I’ve got a bunch
of shows next week I’ve had a fancy drink
at the party There was steam coming out of it
or dry ice. It was amazing I’m gonna carry on drinking
whatever’s shoved in front of me Whiskey, I’ve already started Hey cast, did you feel the love? Did you spread the love? Did you feel the joy? Did you spread the joy? I almost cried. Well, I did cry three times
during the show I was looking at my cast mates and looking in their eyes
and we’re just a really close community and it’s a show about community
and I was feeling the love coming from all of my friends
and from the audience and I was feeling
I really was It was a beautiful thing
