Humans are the one species that fight war
for things other than real survival needs. We’re the ones who kill to kill, or kill to
have what you have, or make sure that I have it all. And the play, by dealing with this family
that has the kingdom but we don’t know how the kingdom’s gonna stay together when the
King dies, they end up looking at things like what am I willing to do to get what I want? How far am I willing to go? Am I willing to kill my son in an honest battle,
following the rules of war? Or, am I willing to stab him in his sleep
one night? The play looks at some of those issues about
people and the way we treat each other that I think are infinitely interesting.
