Welcome to GFT – look inside Glasgow Film Theatre

Welcome to Glasgow Film Theatre, Scotland’s
original independent cinema and the home of film in Glasgow. Step into our building and you’ll receive
a warm welcome at the box office, where our team are ready to provide all the information
you’ll need regarding the latest releases, classic reissues, independent features and
bespoke seasons. Around the building you’ll see that we’ve
made accessibility our priority. With lifts, ramps and accessible toilets we
fully embody our mission statement: cinema for all. Our downstairs bar recalls GFT’s origins
as 1930s picture house The Cosmo All of our spaces are available for hire and
can be closed off for private events. Let’s go down to cinemas 2 and 3. Opened in April 1991, Screen 2 boasts 142
seats, and its 1930s style references our heritage with that classic golden age movie-house
feel. Screen 3 is the newest and smallest addition
to our cinema. With 60 seats this sleek space is perfect
for a private screening or small premiere, and has allowed us to further expand our programme. A central feature of our 2016 refurbishment
was the reinterpretation of Cosmo’s iconic butterfly staircase, which leads all
the way up to Screen 1: our centrepiece 394-seat cinema – a classic, unforgettable big screen
experience. Also upstairs we have a fully customisable
bar – a flexible space perfectly suited to a range of events. Able to be screened off for greater privacy,
the upstairs bar is perfect for a larger party. Across from our upstairs bar is the snug,
a cosy seating area to wait in before your film begins. On the top level is the adaptable space we
call the Project Room. Fully-fitted for multiple purposes, this can
be used as a screening room, a meeting space, a breakout area or a further education or
training space. The Project Room adds a whole new dimension to the life of GFT. Glasgow Film Theatre: cinema for all
